A little about me.

Hi, my name is Mackenzie Smith. I am an emerging photographer based in Newcastle. My journey into photography started during my later years in high school back in 2018, since then it has become a creative outlet of mine that I have become very passionate about.

After high school, I was determined to enhance my photography skills, so I enrolled in Tafe for a Diploma in Photo and Imaging in 2020. At Tafe, I was immersed in a diverse array of photography styles and techniques, ranging from film and studio lighting to magazine editorial and portraiture.

During my time at Tafe, I had the incredible opportunity to shoot an editorial for Façon, a prominent Newcastle magazine, for their 2020 summer issue. Collaborating closely with the magazine's Chief Editor, I helped bring their creative vision to life. From concept planning to location scouting, photography, and post-editing, every aspect of the editorial process was an amazing learning experience that I'm so grateful for.

After Tafe I started to built my portfolio by doing photo sessions with friends and family, this led me to obtain many photo jobs from clients who have seen my work on social media and family/friends alike who have seen photos from my sessions. This has led to future work and repeat clients. These sessions have given me experience and the opportunity to try a range of different photography styles such as; newborn, wedding, formal, sports, pet and more.
